Language Café at the FEC

Do you want to speak Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish… in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere?

Join us in the EuroStudentCafé, which is part of the Foyer de l’étudiant catholique (or FEC) in central Strasbourg.

Frequency: 2 times a month, the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month (except August).

Time: 7.30-9.30pm

Parking: Best to come by bike or on foot or ‘Gallia’ is the nearest tram stop on lines C, E and F. Parking is free after 7pm in the streets, but it’s not always easy to find a space.

Language Cafés are also held in Strasbourg, Kehl and Baden-Baden. They unite people of different nationalities to meet and talk together. The advantage is that the groups are small, which enables free and natural conversation accompanied by native speakers. There is no membership or reservation required. It’s free except for what you order to eat and drink. All are welcome!

The teams with the most number of correct answers can win a round of drinks or other prizes such as t-shirts, baseball caps and beer glasses. Why not come along? It’s open to all and best of all it’s free (though you pay for any drinks any order!)

The Pub Quiz takes place every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month (excluding public holidays) starting at 9pm.

The Baden-Baden Language Café

Come and practise one of many foreign languages – French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, English – while enjoying a drink in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Meetings take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7.30-9.30pm in the Trinkhalle in the centre of Baden-Baden.

Join Helen, the local organiser, in the bar or on the terrace, who will assure you a warm welcome. From the UK, she has now been living in Germany for around 25 years, in Baden-Baden since 2006. She is an English trainer working with companies in the Baden-Baden region.

The Café-Lounge lies right in the heart of Baden-Baden next to the “Kurhaus”. 16 Corynthian columns port the 90 metre long entrance hall, in which guests can admire the 14 images on the walls. The pictures depict scenes from myths and legends of the region.

Language Cafés are held in Strasbourg, Kehl and Baden-Baden. They unite people of different nationalities to meet and talk together. The advantage is that the groups are small, which enables free and natural conversation accompanied by native speakers. It’s free except for drinks. No reservation or membership is necessary.

Click to visit their website

Located in the centre of the city, Language in London is the first school in the world to be awarded the British Council prize for innovation in English teaching. Our unique courses include “Cultural Experience” – where you can study English in London’s museums and galleries. This is the perfect holiday course and a way of learning the language that you could not do at home.

For those taking a short course, the focus is on speaking skills, learning vocabulary and enjoying London. Longer courses are ideal for a “gap-year” experience, preparing for an exam or aiming to move up one or two levels.

Language in London students can select their accommodation according to their needs and how much they want to pay. Our loft-style apartments are ideal for those who want to share a flat with other students from the school and homestay is the perfect opportunity to live with London hosts and practise English.

To complete the experience, there is a programme of social activities for you to join in with.

These range from visits to museums and guided walking tours of London to trips to places like Greenwich and Oxford, picnics and sport in the park, theatre, musicals and BBC TV recordings.

All the staff are positive, enthusiastic and dedicated to helping you have a wonderful time studying and living in London.
